KVMR (89.5 FM) is a progressive, independent radio station founded in 1978 in Nevada City, California. KVMR's coverage from its transmitter on nearby 3000' Banner Mountain includes the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Northern California, as well as the Central Valley region around California's state capital, Sacramento. A translator on Mount Pluto covers much of the Truckee, California area and the northern end of the Lake Tahoe region at (105.1 FM). KVMR's broadcasts are also available 24/7 streaming over the Internet. Applying the slogan "Music of the World, Voice of the Community," KVMR is a not-for-profit entity operating under the auspices of the Nevada City Broadcast Group. KVMR's broad range of music programming includes many genres not available elsewhere, such as the shows periodically aired by Ric O' Shea, Skip Alen Smith, and Mikail Graham.
